UFI Code and PCN (Poison Centre Notification)
UFI stands for Unique Formula Identifier. It is a 16-character alphanumeric code.
ContactUFI stands for Unique Formula Identifier. It is a 16-character alphanumeric code used to facilitate communication with official health services in order to provide appropriate medical assistance or minimize the effects of an incident involving a chemical product.
For chemical products placed on the market in EU countries, it is mandatory to indicate the UFI code on the product label and in the Safety Data Sheet (SDS). Only mixtures classified as hazardous to health or physical properties require a UFI code and Poison Centre Notification. From January 1, 2024, UFI and PCN are mandatory.
There is a centralized portal for registering a product with the EU Poison Centres. Through this portal, a single submission can be made for all relevant countries. The format and required information are standardized across the EU. To register via the PCN portal, information such as the product's composition, physical properties, packaging, and more is required.
The obligation to obtain a UFI code and submit a PCN notification lies with the importer in the EU. However, companies exporting from Turkey to the EU are often required to share their product formulas with their EU importers for them to obtain a UFI code and make the necessary notifications. For companies that prefer not to disclose their formulas, it is possible to obtain a UFI code and submit PCN notifications directly from Turkey.
ChemRAS can support you in obtaining a UFI code and submitting a PCN (Poison Centre Notification).
